A festive staircase

There is something about seeing a staircase full of foliage, pretty lights and ribbons that makes the downstairs of a house (which is usually the only Christmassy part), connected to the upstairs. For the first time, I have decorated my staircase for Christmas and I’ve got say, it really has made a difference to that ‘Christmassy feeling’ of moving between the levels in my home.

I’ve not gone ‘all-out’, let’s be honest here, but I have wrapped around my bannister a frosted garland which I picked up from TK Maxx, some battery operated fairy lights that I bought from Matalan and a gold sparkle leaf garland which I already owned. I have also hung some white paper snowflakes from the bannister and in the staircase window to give a bit of a modern twist. These were picked up from Sainsbury’s last year and Poundworld last week so were super cheap to buy yet provide a very effective display.

In the staircase window, I have placed two beaded Christmas trees from TK Maxx and a gorgeous snow globe containing a labrador with a Father Christmas hat on!

It may be my first year of doing this, but I can confidently say that I will be decorating my staircase every year from now on. I may even get a bit more daring as years go by adding more foliage, some ribbons and more fairy lights…!
