My name is Sarah-Jane, or ‘SJ’ as my friends know me. And I live in a little village a little way outside of London with my incredible husband Matt, my two gorgeous boys James and Riley, new baby girl Scarlett – not to mention my small menagerie of animals…! We have two wonderful dogs called Percy and Sky, two loving cats called Apollo and Bailey, two cheeky little Shetland ponies called Tommy and Kenny and four egg-laying chickens.
We love being active and enjoy nothing more than getting stuck into new adventures, whether it be on camping trips, holidays abroad, or quite simply, weekend pony rides and long dog walks to the pub. Weekends for us are always busy, if we are not socialising with friends or family, we are in the garden tackling the flower beds and up ladders cutting back the ever growing climbing plants which surround the house! We enjoy life and believe every day should count!
Our home is our sanctuary, a place where many happy memories are formed and where my most cherished processions live (my children, my man and my animals). So when it comes to making our house a home, our home, I can think of nothing better than to make it the place that I love.
What are we doing?
We have just completed our “little” 8 month build project – yes, I’m teasing you here by saying it was little! It was an epic project which involved us transforming our rather dated, cold (we had no central heating, just electric oil heaters and a coal burning stove), and unstylish house into a 21st century family home which is warm, comfortable, technologically driven and interiorly rather slick! Throughout the whole 8 months, we all lived in a static caravan on site – so that’s me (pregnant), Matt, the two boys and the two dogs. Oh, and occasionally our two cats!
We are now living in the house (and loving it!) and slowly furnishing it room by room. If you have an interest in home builds, interiors and family living, give me a follow!
Why the blog?
What better way to diarise the unfolding of our build than via the web, not only can we share our experiences with people who are interested in home projects and interior design but my nearest and dearest from all over the country (my family and friends are fairly spread out!) can follow our progress and keep up to date with the highs and lows (yes, we have experienced both) of building a new home.
What’s in it for you?
Reading our blog can benefit you too! You’ll get to experience the roller coaster that is a renovation project, with all its dust, diggers, hefty cheques, intense co-ordination and endless decision makings, without ever having to leave the comfort of your home!
In all honesty though, this blog is really just a keep-sake recording of our home renovation project but, if we can inspire you or help you in some way with a project that you may be considering, or perhaps in the midst of completing, then this blog has done more than we possibly could have expected it to do.
Please get in touch if you have any questions or simply want to share your thoughts and opinions. I hope you enjoy the updates and please wish us good luck!
